Shock spreads over stabbings allegedly by nanny; Krim blog disabled

In the wake of the stabbing deaths of two young children of CNBC executive Kevin Krim, images of the youngsters multiplied online. But the source of the photos -- a sunny blog that their mother penned -- was taken down as shock spread over the children's deaths, allegedly at the hands of their nanny.

Krim's wife, Marina, on Thursday night discovered her children in a bloody bathtub, slain in their luxury Manhattan apartment. Their nanny and a kitchen knife were nearby. New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly reportedly said at a news conference Friday that the nanny slashed
herself in front of the distraught mother.

Dead are 2-year-old Leo and 6-year-old Lucia. The Krims' third child, Nessie, was with her mother. As the horror unfolded, with Marina Krim's screams alerting neighbors, she reportedly clung to the 3-year-old, hysterical.

Her husband is general manager of digital media with CNBC. He was on a business trip when the stabbings occurred, according to the Associated Press. A light-hearted tweet from Krim on Oct. 22 indicated he was on a flight: "The in-flight wifi on my cross-country flight right now is completely overwhelmed by NFL, MLB, DWTS and Debate. I give up."

Lucia and Leo reportedly were taken to New York's Roosevelt Hospital on Thursday night, where they were pronounced dead and their mother was treated for trauma. It's unclear exactly when Kevin Krim arrived home, but police met him as his plane landed and escorted him to the hospital, the AP said.

The nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, was in critical condition early Friday, according to AP, with what police described as self-inflicted stab wounds to her neck.

Hours before the stabbings occurred, Marina Krim had updated her Live Journal blog, which was filled with stories and pictures of her kids. "Leo speaks in the most adorable way possible. ... He speaks super clearly, so you can understand every word ... he is saying."

By mid-morning Friday, the blog had been removed.

Reflections on the tragedy appeared Friday on social media, with some calling out for prayers for the family. Celebrities added notes on their sorrow.

Rosanna Scotto, "Good Day New York" anchor, tweeted: "My condolences to the family who came home to find that their nanny killed their two kids."

Holly Robinson Peete: "This horrific nanny stabbing in New York had me up last night... BEYOND TRAGIC."

Denise Richards: "my heart aches hearing about the horrific news in NY about the nanny who killed the 2 children..devastating tragedy.."
